The German website notebookjournal.de just released a review of HD5650 and Core i7-720QM equipped notebook which shows the performance of the new ATI mobile graphics card codenamed Madison, which we expect to see in most Acer models coming in January and may be many other in the next few months. The review lacks much data about the graphics card and it’s prone to speculations, but it shows that HD5650 will run at 600 MHz core and 800 MHz memory (600 MHz DDR) and it is equipped with 1 GB of GDDR3 memory. …read on

Posted on 12th December 2009Acer never stop to amaze us how fast they move once they decide something fits their politics. Acer does its job well and hits the market with innovations the moment they are available, and it is how the company works. And it works well given the fact they are 2nd largest PC supplier in global market, even as they are heavily underrepresented in North America (read USA and Canada). Which also means they have a huge impact on any market, at least as much as HP and Dell. There are no wonders behind this – the company doesn’t sell its name but hardware. Even if we throw out the past examples, they are really the first known manufacturer that not only is rumored to have a ATI Mobility Radeon HD5650 notebooks as we wrote here, but the first to use the new Core i5 and Core i3 processors from Intel, as you will see later in this article. Acer Aspire 5942 and 8942 – first notebooks with ATI Mobility Radeon HD5650
Posted on 30th October 2009We are going to speculate a bit here, but in a recent notebook dealer event Acer announced two new gaming models are coming before the end of the year and we decided to share that information. Both Acer Aspire 5942G and Aspire 8942G will be based on Core i7 720QM processor (we bet Intel will have a hard time explaining the low 1.6 GHz speed to users) and ATI Mobility Radeon HD5650 graphics. THe new models will probably derive from their current 5940G and 8940G lines which are based on Core i7 platform, so we don’t expect huge changes in their looks or technical specifications. …read on
