23-inch 120 Hz LCD display from Acer – GD235HZ

Under: News 2 comments

Some time ago we wrote about Acer’s new addition to the 120 Hz monitors for gaming and 3D Vision – the GD245HD – a 24-inch 3D Vision Ready display with Full HD resolution. Acer soon followed with news about another 120 Hz TFT monitor – the GD235HZ, which would be a cheaper version with WSXGA+ resolution with a bit bigger screen than the popular Samsung and Viewsonic monitors with their 22-inch wide screens. UPDATE – we just received information that it would be the same product as  GD245HD with 23.5″ panel and FullHD resolution! …read on

ATI Radeon HD5xxx shortage leads to delay of HD5650-based notebooks

Under: Mobile computing No comments

As we recently mentioned here, Acer had plans on releasing at least two notebooks based on Intel Core i7 and ATI’s newest Mobility Radeon HD5650. Few days later it became clear that there is heavy shortage of HD5xxx chips and videocards, which would apply also to the mobile graphic cards by ATI. Our guy at Acer commented that we can expect a delay of the new HD5650-based models, although he couldn’t say how much we’ll have to wait. …read on

Acer is on it again releasing 24-inch 120Hz FullHD Gaming Monitors soon?

Under: News 6 comments

This is how the new 23,6″ gaming monitor from Acer might just look, as we’ve heard that the company is preparing to release it’s first 120Hz displays for gaming and S3D experience. The new Full HD monitors will be 3D Vision compatible for playing in stereo 3D, bot so far they aren’t officially released. What”s more interesting is the fact that Acer is may be the first company offering a 24-inch and Full HD monitor on the market that can work at 120Hz framerate, considering that so far only Samsung and ViewSonic are selling such new generation displays. And what Samsung and ViewSonic have so far are 22-inch monitors that are not 16:9 and Full HD, but offer a 16:10 aspect ratio and 1680×1050 pixels screen resolution more common amongst 22 inches today. …read on

Acer Aspire 5942 and 8942 – first notebooks with ATI Mobility Radeon HD5650

Under: News 5 comments

We are going to speculate a bit here, but in a recent notebook dealer event Acer announced two new gaming models are coming before the end of the year and we decided to share that information. Both Acer Aspire 5942G and Aspire 8942G will be based on Core i7 720QM processor (we bet Intel will have a hard time explaining the low 1.6 GHz speed to users) and ATI Mobility Radeon HD5650 graphics. THe new models will probably derive from their current 5940G and 8940G lines which are based on Core i7 platform, so we don’t expect huge changes in their looks or technical specifications. …read on
