Who the f*** is Charlie? (a breakdown of NVIDIA products, technology and mistakes in 10 paragraphs)

There s certain degree of objectivity editors have to keep to retain their stature of trusted source when they start to get more and more readers. There are only a handful of exceptions in the world of IT hardware and right now one of them is much too active to miss him in what we decided to be a simple true/false review of current NVIDIA position. Charlie from semiaccurate started to sound more than angry lately and while he still keeps the politeness in his forum posts, most of his articles started to look like a regular forum troll postings. In fact – an ATI fanboy postings, and one of those that don’t have much technical knowledge and substitute it with pure hate. There is also certain degree of envy in our words – not everyone can sound as deluded as Charlie Demerjian while keeping his readers (he even gets more and more) but we certainly prefer to stay objective instead of taking the one way road. Because you know that once you take that road there is only a couple of times you get to fail before you get lost – even Neo can only dodge a few bullets before he gets hit, right? We won’t run Charlie’s article analysis here, but all in all we think he has someone over TSMC, as most of his accurate postings seems to be either about chip manufacturing, or anti-NVIDIA PR analyzes. The rest… well, the rest of the ATI/NVIDIA stuff  is just too much crap to be analyzed. Most of it is included in one simple form with 10 points below: …read on

You really hav.. MUST watch Avatar!

Under: Blog 2 comments

After missing the whole fight for buying tickets for the first few projections of Avatar, we finally got to a RealD cinema to see it for ourselves. If you don’t have a clue what is the whole IMAX/RealD/etc. thing, you should read that article about 3D cinema at the 3D Vision Blog – it explains everything in details. Back on the movie – there is only one real choice you have – go see it. There is no other movie like that to compare it. There is no other movie that redefines cliches in such way to make them as desirable  as glass of cold water in Sahara. There is only one thing you can do and it is to sit and watch in awe this masterpiece that makes everyone in Hollywood who didn’t take part in it too look like bunch of 15th century peasants looking at the 10 km mothership from District 9. …read on

First ATI Mobility Radeon HD5650 benchmarks!

Under: Blog No comments

The German website notebookjournal.de just released a review of HD5650 and Core i7-720QM equipped notebook which shows the performance of the new ATI mobile graphics card codenamed Madison, which we expect to see in most Acer models coming in January and may be many other in the next few months. The review lacks much data about the graphics card and it’s prone to speculations, but it shows that HD5650 will run at 600 MHz core and 800 MHz memory (600 MHz DDR) and it is equipped with 1 GB of GDDR3 memory. …read on

Another couple of fake NVIDIA GTX380/360 benchmark results and images of GF100

Under: Blog 1 comments

A member of Tom’s Hardware forum started a thread that shows off a couple of benchmark results from GTX380 and GTX 360 graphic cards by NVIDIA. Off course – the thread soon turned to a mass laughter at the poor Photoshopper, but he continued to insist the results are true and were about to be published in a future tomshardware.com article (he even gave a link, leading nowhere). Usually we wouldn’t use those results at all, if we didn’t know how often there is NDA going on the results and articles and how sometimes you just hit that “publish” button instead of “save draft” (that is in WordPress, but you can imagine they don’t write HTML at TH and use some user-friendly backend), so there could be some mistake, followed by quick cleanup. Anyway we just decided to keep those charts here as they won’t get deleted if the forum thread goes underground. …read on

Lenovo ThinkPad W700ds – a nerd’s dream come true.

Under: Blog No comments

After watching some advertisement of Lenovo’s ThinkPad W700ds, we just couldn’t resist the urge to mock them a bit. You know, W700ds is really (and we mean it) the nerd’s dream – anyone who wants powerfull laptop that doesn’t come from space (read: Alienware) but is more suited for work, rugged and all that, has to know that ThinkPad W700ds has it all. It’s a kind of beast performance-wise, but what’s hot in it is that it has all the things and gadgets and stuff that makes you feel proud of it… …read on
