With all the fuzz around their 3D Vision NVIDIA surely too often took credit of “inventing” the stereoscopic 3D (S3D). Of course it’s not true, but NVIDIA sure did a lot about spreading the word about it. In fact – so much that any average 9 years old (at least those that didn’t go for the better 3D performance ATI’s card currently have) can recite you what do you need to set up a 3D Vision rig – NVIDIA graphics card, 120 Hz monitor, 3D vision glasses, all costly beyond reason if you never played a game in S3D mode. Once you play a game all fits, as the systems can be breathteaking to anyone who’s not picky about small bugs and such. The time came for other manufacturers to get the clue and see there are money to be made out of the S3D. And here we are, playing with a new toy – the first widely available notebook with S3D capable screen – Acer Aspire 5738DG. …read on

Hands-on review of Acer 5738DG 3D Laptop
Posted on 27th October 2009Olympus Pen E-P1 a.k.a. E-Peen
Posted on 26th October 2009We all know photography got to the stage where if it is not DSLR you don’t trust it to do any decent job. Actually it became something more like “if it doesn’t have at least APS-sized sensor, don’t buy it”, but yet there are those two companies – Olympus and Panasonic, that still try to set up a new trend – of smaller four thirds sensors. Or, which is more apparent – of smaller DSLRs or even range-finders with interchangeable optics. We won’t go into detailed review of their system (not that it doesn’t deserve a review of its own, as we have objections to everything it tries to present), but we feel obliged to talk about one of Olympus’ models that tries to get sentimental: the Pen E-P1, which really sounds as the e-peen it is, as it represents truly the marketing goals of Olympus – tell people it’s good and make it look like camera and they’ll buy it… …read on

Posted on 25th October 2009Microsoft has finally officially launched its new Windows 7 operating system and with it comes the new DirectX 11 support that is supposed to make things easier for game developers and the games looking nicer for the people that play them. And so far only ATI has released a DirectX 11 hardware on the market, but have you taught about what can you get with the combination of Win 7 and DX11 video card at the moment or lets say by the end of this year? …read on
AMD notebook VISION is hot
Posted on 24th October 2009If you look at the title, it says two different things: one is that AMD’s VISION program is really cool and trendy, while the other is quite literal and it just says that AMD VISION is hot (like more than warm). Such word riddles are often used when one (us, for example) wants to be ironic or even sarcastic, so you can expect something really mean after such title. We will get there, just read on. …read on
ATI’s Got the Stereoscopic 3D Papers Rollin’
Posted on 23rd October 2009Not a lot of people have noticed that in the specs for the latest Radeon HD 5000 series GPUs the guys at ATI have added one interesting new feature that is becoming to generate quite a lot if interest lately. Yes, we are talking about the “3D stereoscopic display/glasses support” thingy that is present in the specs for every Radeon HD 5870, 5850, 5770 and 5850 VGA, but that is pretty much everything there is. There is a little bit of “clarification” present in the specs, the little 13 index at the end states that “Requires 3D stereo drivers, glasses, and display” that actually does not clarify a thing about the stereoscopic 3D support! …read on
